The brew unit is not in the home position.
Close the appliance door and switch the coffee machine on.
The brew unit drive is initialised automatically. Noises can be heard when initialising the brew unit.
The brew unit automatically moves back to the home position.
If necessary, repeat this process 2–3 times.
